At East Park we offer swimming as a vital part of the National Curriculum in upper Key Stage Two. Learning to swim is an essential life skill, and the lessons pupils undertake aim to make sure every child is confident and safe in and around water. We follow the National Curriculum requirements, which means all children work towards being able to swim 25 metres unaided and know how to perform a safe self-rescue.

In 2025 97% of our pupils passed the 25m front and back assessment and completed their water safety. 

Pupils are also provided with additional water-based and swimming opportunities such as Allerthorpe Water Park as part of the upper Key Stage Two residential.
